Oh, yeah ... it's really fun!!

First off, I figured there would be a long line to get in so we get there about 30 minutes early (which I do not consider that early). The Registration Desk was still getting ready. There must have been 10 people working it. Another lady walked up and then a couple more. As it turned out, I was the very first one to be signed in for the very first CHA Super Show! As announced, the public has been asking for this show for 39 years and I was the very first one to be signed in!! WOW!! Though this is a monumental moment for me it didn't hold a candle to what lay ahead.

For those who could not make it, let me tell you how much you've missed.......a ton!! It is so much fun and there is sooooo much to do. Most every booth has make-and-takes. Everyone was so nice and every bit as excited as I was. Friends were re-acquainted and new friends were made. You must know that most "friends" are Internet friends and have not met in person but still knew one another. People would know each other by their SCS Nickname or by the blogs they follow. SCS is a fantastic place to meet wonderful ladies. Thanks SCS for newfound friends!

And what a great group of people! The Splitcoast Stampers...is there anyone better??

The wonderful Paulette Jarvey, who's been on the Carol Duval Show many times, has been published many times, now has her own successful business AND an all around funny person taking her valuable time to teach make-and-takes to plain old every day card makers! Is this wonderful or what?

Suze Wineberg showing how to use a melting tool for altered art (the style she is so famous for). She's been on the Carol Duval Show many times too demonstrating her melting pot and ultra thick embossing powders.

And there's Nicole Heady another infamous card maker. She's been published many times in Paper Crafts magazines and is an inspiration to many. Very sweet and another honor to meet.

Oh, and by the way, Carol Duval herself was here for the wholesale presenters earlier this week. To tell you that I've had a fantastic day is just too simple. There are more pictures that I'll post later. It's been a very tiring day and do you know that I hadn't even realized I hadn't eaten a thing all day long?? Yep, I'm tired; but a very good tired it is!!

CHA - YAY!

A couple of days ago, we made last minute plans to go ahead and attend the CHA (Craft & Hobby Association) Convention in Orlando, FL. We drove all day today and got here a little bit ago. We drove by the Convention Center after we ate and it is not far from where we're staying. Looks to be about a 10 minute walk. We'll see. Everything here is of grandeur stature. There are huge signs outside the Convention Center welcoming CHA and I can hardly believe I'm here about to attend tomorrow. This is so surreal!! I'm so stoked!! I'll be posting pictures while I'm here. Wish you all were here 'cuz I know you want to be!! No, I'm not rubbing it in...I wish you could be here, too...really!!

I am still excited about participating in the DTGD Challenges so I've decided on a couple more. This is an all time record for me!! Making all of these cards in the past couple of days compared to making one once in a while. Boy, have I been brainstorming...or maybe it's just all of those Dirty Girls' ideas. Thanks, ladies, for all your challenges. This one is for Cindy Haffner's sketch challenge and Stamper Sharon's challenge to use black and white with a touch of red.

I've had this one in my mind and decided to put it on paper. Hope you like it. Your comments are always welcomed!!

This is a 6" square card. I embossed the smaller black squares but I think it was hid with the white squares on top. The red oval piece was also embossed. I hope it shows because it seems to add a touch of elegance. The four squares were pop-dotted as well as the white image piece.

Recipe:
Stamps: Thoughts & Prayers
Paper: Black textured SU cardstock, white, Real Red
Ink: Memento Black
Accessories: Textile EF, Square Nestabilities, Oval and Scallop Oval Nestabilities, pop dots

These cards were made to give to an elderly friend who is having a lot of medical problems (her with cancer AND her husband with heart problems and weakness). They are in their 80's. I thought I would make a few Thank You cards for her to send to some friends that have helped them during this difficult time. Here are a couple of them. I hope she likes them.

After I made this one, I saw where it fit into a couple of the SCS Challenges this weekend. One is for a non-traditional size (DTGD09craftycaro) and another to use texture (DTGD09deborahlynnes). This card is 4.25 x 4.25 and uses the Dotted Swiss CB EF as one of the layers.

This one has the same layout but with patterened paper and a more woodsy look to it.

This card should be easy to follow. Not sure if it will be entered into a challenge or not at the time of this posting. I love the simplicity of it.

Stamps: Essence of Love
Paper: White, Night of Navy
Ink: Night of Navy
Accessories: Classic and Scallop Ovals (Nesties), White Inkessentials Pen, Kaiser Pearls, White Organdy Ribbon, Dotted Swiss EF CB, dimensionals.
I was so productive yesterday and today...at least for me! Whew!! Seems like forever since I've made a card. After making several, I found that most are fitting well into the DTGD Challenges posted today. How great is that! What do you think?

This first one is for two challenges. One is SSNOTIME97 and the other is DTGD09TruCarMa. Don't these lemon, lime and orange slices make your mouth water? Clear Dew Drops were used to add to the watery, crispness of the card. Wish you could see the glitter on these fruits...it is so refreshing.

Stamps: Fresh Fruits (SU retired)
Paper: Green Galore, Only Orange, Yoyo Yellow and White
Ink: Same (but not white)
Accessories: Circle Nesties, Clear Dew Drops, SU Scallop punch, Dotted Swiss CB, Yellow and Clear Stickles, Orange Glitter, Green ribbon off of purchased item (just couldn't throw this away!), dimensionals

The second one is for DTGD09Becca. I need a birthday card for next month and thought these stickers were so cute. The card was built around them. No stamps were used on this card...really.

Paper: Ivory, Night of Navy, Old Olive, Pretty in Pink, Two Scoops by Basic Grey
Punches/Dies: Fence and leaf by Martha Stewart, Labels One (Nesties), 1 1/4" square punch (SU)
Accessories: Old Olive grosgrain ribbon, Kaiser pearl, Butterfly and Flower stickers by Studio 18, dimensionals

The third one turned out kinda elegant and is for DTGD09Lauraly. With a little ribbon, Nesties and a pearl, it made itself. (For some reason, the main image and ribbon look crooked, but it's not.)

Stamps: Oh, So Lovely (SU retired), Fresh Cuts (for sentiment)
Paper: White, Night of Navy
Ink: Memento Black, Always Artichoke
Accessories: Dotted Swiss CB, Classic and Scallop Oval Nesties, Watercolor Crayons, White SU Organza ribbon, Kaiser pearl, dimensionals

This one is for DTGD09sf9erfan and is "For the Boys". I am so pleased with the way it turned out; it's so taylored looking. Love the Flower Soft. It seems to bring it to life.

Stamps: Lovely as a Tree
Paper: Ivory, Night of Navy, Old Olive, Two Scoops by Basic Grey
Ink: Chocolate Chip and Certainly Celery, Old Olive and Always Artichoke (for the tree with Old Olive wash for the shadow)
Accessories: Shamrock Green Flower Soft, watercolor brush, lime green Kaiser Rhinestones, Very Vanilla grosgrain ribbon, 1 1/4" SU square punch, dimensionals, HB stickers (for happy birthday)

Dare To Get Dirty!

Yep, that's what I said...now, do you? Dare to get dirty (DTGD), that is?? If you do, be sure you check out all the challenges to participate in. Have a great time 'getting dirty'!! Click here for the thread.

I have a few cards to share right off. They are super simple and hope you like them. The third one down has tiny rhinestones on it in case you cannot tell. I thought it added just a touch of bling to it to dress it up a little. Don't know why the date stamp popped in; it wasn't displayed on my camera when I took the pictures. I made these today and not sometime in 06! I think I just fixed this. Oh, well ......

I'd be completely lost without my Cuttlebug and Nestabilities!! They are my left and right arms, ha! They can make the simplest card so elegant and are a must-have for any card maker! Thanks for looking.

Welcome ...

Thank you for visiting my little stamping corner of the world. Our main blog is listed on the sidebar. I thought that this may be helpful to keep a separate one for my paper crafting.

I hope you enjoy the things that I show you. And hopefully, I will be more diligent in posting in this particular area, which has taken a back seat to the other things listed above.

Your comments are sweetly welcomed. I thoroughly enjoy reading them. I look forward to seeing more of you.
