Crop Connection, July 2013

I know it's been a while since I've posted.  I really have good intentions but my running seems to take precedence; therefore my time is spent in that direction, then to update that blog...well, let's just say I need to spread all my love between my three blogs.

Late June, I received a jury duty summons form.  Did THIS make me squirm!!  After submitting the form, I figured the time it took for them to look it over and call a new jury would land about the time of the Crop.  Usually, I'm getting excited 7-10 days before and start getting ready and packed.  This time all I had was anxiety...LOTS of it...because with my luck, I felt I was destined to have to appear at the end of the week when I would be on the road to Jackson.  My tablemates asked me off and on if I had received any information.  I wanted to see them so bad again.  Monday came and nothing in the mail...beginning to feel relieved.  Then Tuesday's mail arrived and nothing...now I'm beginning to get excited!!  BUT...it left me with tons of things to do...mostly mentally in the fact I need to plan what to pack on a quick notice.  The packing is the easy part...the deciding what to take and what I want to do when I'm there, that's the work!

Not having the usual preparation time, things just got tossed into large containers.  One of them is always used for "working" items; like an Ott light, extension cords, shelving, pillow to sit on, etc., etc.  Thankfully, I have learned to confine those things to one container leaving the others for all the "toys", I mean important things, I want/need.

After all of this "work" got in motion, my excitement built and built on seeing my scrapping "sisters" again.  I don't know what it is about this Crop but it really is like a family reunion twice a year.  Some are close "relatives" while others are distant cousins.  Most of them you like, then there will be a couple thrown in the pile that you could care less if you saw again...just like family, ha!

Believe it or not, I think I took less containers than before but, for the life of me, I can't see where I left anything...actually felt like I had more available.  Maybe I need to pack like this from now on...last minute.

The Brandon Municipal Building was a really nice building.  The room was large, the bathrooms stayed clean and supplied, and the lighting was GREAT...a necessary luxury when you are doing papercrafting on your table the entire time.

Seems I took less pictures this year than in years past.  Not sure why...just happened that way.  I was hesitant in going for another reason.  I'd not made cards in a long time and really feel like I had to start over.  But when I got started, things seem to fall into place again.  Just haven't "progressed" any.  I loved my card that I submitted for the Card Contest and can't wait to pass it along.  It's a smaller than usual card.  I, also, wanted to do something different again this time so I made an easel card.  The opened view shows the fold in the card to make it sit up against the little flower at the bottom.  When it's laid down in place, the cutout lines up evenly.  I loved the subtle colors with the emphasis on the words.  I got 2nd Place and am proud of the little card.  It's so delicate.  What do you think?

Here are some shots of us at the photo op.

Caroline and Terri...best buds forever!!

Karen...looking great this Crop.  She's such a busy bee.  Wish we had gotten our pics together.  :(

The best tablemates ever...we are growing!  Vivian, Debbie, Karen, Terri, Me, Caroline.

We had shirts alike except I got a spot on mine just before someone decided to get pics...UGH!  The shirt read "Scrapbooking is a Hoot".  The theme this time was on owls.  So cute!

After all was said and done, I came out with 29 cards!!  That's a record for me.  Well...I had to make several birthday cards so I duplicated 12 of them.  Otherwise, they were ALL different.  I can hardly make two alike so this was a challenge in and of itself.  I won't bore you with all of them.  Here are a few.  Which do you like the best?

I tried something a little different on this one by using the negative die with patterned paper behind it and adding some texture with the soft, green fiber string.

The butterfly is threefold.  The bottom one is blue, the second is green and the top is pink.  It was hard to capture the dimension.  I think this is my favorite one.

I have to say I love this one, too.  LOVE the little dress die.  I embellished everyone of them.  Cut the card a little short so I could let the little birdie sit on the edge of the clothesline and added some sweet tiny hearts for his "notes".

And, finally, my little cherry card.  Love the buttons and twine.  The inside reads "you're so sweet".

That's it for now.

Happy Stamping/Scrapping and Card Making, my friends!!
